| Oncidiums, also known as "Dancing Ladies" come in many varieties. Shown here are clockwise from top left: close up of a flower of Oncidium Sharry Baby 'Sweet Fragrance' whose 3+ feet long spikes carry 4-5 dozens of 1" fragrant maroon-red flowers with a beige lip; close up of a Oncidium Gower Ramsey flower; Oncidium ornithorhynchum, a compact growing plant, which, when mature, can produce two flower spikes per new growth, each spike about 12" long carrying a dozen or so 3/4" pink flowers; Oncidium Sweet Sugar whose 12" to 15" tall spike carry 2 dozen or so flowers, 1.5" in size; and, at bottom left, a basket arrangement of 6 plants of Oncidium Gower Ramsey whose 3' tall spikes carry 2 to 3 dozen gold-yellow flowers about 1" in size. In good conditions Oncidium flowers will last 6 weeks or more. Properly grown plants rebloom easily when grown on a bright west or south windowsill. | ![]() |
