Phalaenopsis
Most people prefer Phalaenopsis. They love their simple, understated elegance and prize them for their long lasting flowers which in good conditions may last well over two months. White Phalaenopsis with yellow center are the most popular, but there are a number of very attractive alternatives: white with red center, pinks/purple, pink with stripes, spotted flowers, and, occasionally yellows, and sunset colors. Pictures in this page illustrate standard Phalaenopsis whose flowers range in size from 3" to 4". In their peak season (December through April) we have in bloom a wide range of plants from relatively young ones with 4/5 buds or flowers to large, mature plants with tall spikes, some with side branches or double spikes carrying from 8 up to 20 buds or flowers. Their elegant, captivating beauty touches everyone and when you consider they can last in bloom for 2 months or more, Phalaenopsis are the orchid of choice.

Multiflora Phalaenopsis have smaller flowers than standard Phalaenopsis but make up for it with a lot more flowers. Mature plants usually produce two spikes with side branches on them, easily carrying two dozen flowers. The ability to produce a multitude of flowers has earned them the "multiflora" adjective. Multiflora Phalaenopsis are smaller plants, ideal for these small spaces we want to lighten up. Of course they too display the long lasting quality of Phalaenopsis for months of pure enjoyment.
